About Our University

Welcome from the Head of School

The School of Chemistry at the University of the Punjab stands as one of the oldest and most distinguished centres of chemical sciences in South Asia. Since our founding in June 1923 as the University Chemical Laboratories, we have nurtured generations of scientists who have gone on to lead in academia, industry, and research organisations worldwide.

Our commitment remains unchanged: to provide rigorous, innovative, and values-driven education in the chemical sciences, supported by world-class faculty, modern research infrastructure, and a culture of intellectual curiosity. Whether you are a prospective student, a researcher, an industry partner, or a fellow academic, we welcome you to explore what the School of Chemistry has to offer.

Prof. Dr. Adeel Afzal, Professor & Head.

Four degree programmes from BS to PhD across six specialised academic sections, taught by more than thirty five highly qualified faculty members with national and international research experience.
