PhD Chemistry
About the Programme
The PhD Chemistry programme is the highest degree offered by the School of Chemistry. PhD candidates undertake a substantial piece of original, internationally significant research under the close supervision of an experienced faculty member. The research is expected to make a genuine contribution to the existing body of scientific knowledge in chemistry.
PhD students at the School work in modern, well-equipped laboratories, contribute to the School's international publications output, and frequently present their work at national and international conferences. The programme is structured to develop not only deep disciplinary expertise but also the independent thinking, scientific communication, and project management skills required of a research leader.
Supervision is available across all six sections of the School, and students are matched with supervisors on the basis of their research interests and the supervisor's current research programme.
